EQUIPMENT SERIES

PV DC isolating-switch automatic production line

Benlong Automation Technology Co., Ltd. ↗

A custom assembly and test line for PV DC disconnect switches, running from contact assembly and mechanism calibration through pole stacking to electrical testing. Benlong sells it as a configured series without a fixed model number.

The workpiece is the DC isolator itself. Benlong lists 2P, 4P, 6P and 8P pole formats and switch ratings that can be customized. Stations and test recipes are set for each supplied design.

General illustration of module assembly equipment, not a photograph of this model. Ask the manufacturer for current photographs and layout drawings of the configuration offered.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

Order on the strength of approved switch drawings, a signed configuration and an acceptance plan with measurable limits. Ask Benlong to confirm in writing the station list, the test recipes, any certificates it cites and the accepted output reached in a trial on your product mix.

What the Benlong line builds, and what to send first

Benlong's line produces PV DC isolating switches. Wafer, cell and module work sit outside it. If your plant also builds PV connectors, those need a separate assembly machine with stations of their own. To get a line designed, send your finished-switch drawing, a set of approved parts, the pole layout and your acceptance specification. Benlong then works out the feeders, tooling, assembly order and inspection steps.

Switches with the same pole count can differ in contact geometry, spring force, fasteners and rotary mechanism. Ask for a station schedule drawn from your switch, with Benlong's share of the work and your own share marked. The series is built to order, so expect a project reference where a catalogue model number would normally be.

Station by station: what each check should catch

Station by station: what each check should catch
Station as Benlong lists itAcceptance questionRecord to request
Terminal, spring and contact assemblyHow does the station catch a wrong part, a missing component or a part that is not fully seated? The defined checks, challenge samples and a controlled path for rejected parts.
Torque-controlled fastening and mechanism press-fitWhich operation is controlled, and which force or torque curve counts as a pass?A calibrated sensor record tied to the recipe and the individual workpiece.
Arc-chute placement and pole rivetingHow are orientation, seating and stack geometry checked?Vision or measurement criteria taken from your drawing, plus a shown response to a planted defect.
Hi-pot and rotary testingWhich connections, test order, torque direction and stroke limits apply?Approved recipes, calibration, binding of results to the switch and safe handling of failures.
Code marking and MESHow is each identifier created and linked to its results?Record layout, duplicate-code handling, the interface and an acknowledgement test.

Production testing and product certification are two jobs

  • Agree the recipe with your test owner

Collect the requirements for your finished switch and a written test sequence. Spell out the connections, AC or DC mode, ramp, dwell time, leakage limit and discharge step. Build the recipe from your switch; the tester maximum only sets the ceiling.

  • Certificates behind the UL and IEC wording

Benlong's page uses UL/IEC wording and mentions UL 508I and IEC 60947-3. Ask which standard and edition apply to your switch, what any certification covers, and for copies of the supporting reports.

  • UL file number marking

One marking field on the line is for a UL File No. The marker prints whatever number it is fed. Agree who holds a genuine certification identifier, what it covers and which marks may appear on the finished switch.

  • A safe test station

Specify guarding, interlocks, safe discharge, fault acknowledgement and reject handling for the quoted test station. Ask for the safety documents and watch the real fault response during acceptance.

Running a capacity trial with changeovers and part refills

  1. Choose a realistic product mix

Include your actual pole formats, part variants and the hardest incoming tolerances. Find out whether a recipe change also means swapping feeders, fixtures, riveting tools or test connections.

  2. Count the whole shift

Agree trial length, staffing, part refills, stoppages and recovery. Count accepted finished switches apart from station cycles, processed parts and rejects, and log the reason for every stop and defect.

  3. Test the failure paths

Under a safe agreed procedure, feed in a missing part, a failed electrical test, a duplicate code and a dropped MES connection. Check that a rejected switch can never slip back into good output.

  4. Ask for results tied to your design

The customer account on Benlong's page gives no named design or operating conditions. Ask for a trial report and a reference that match your switch and your operating setup.

What the Benlong quotation should spell out

  • Drawings and samples

Send drawings of every part, from contacts, springs and terminals to the mechanism, housing, fasteners and poles, with approved samples under revision control. Name every variant the line must run.

  • Equipment and utilities

List feeders, tooling, assembly, testers, marking, packaging, controls and guarding. Ask for footprint, access, connected load, compressed air and other utilities, which the product table leaves out.

  • MES and data

Set the interface and field names, the code format and who owns the data, plus how results are stored, exported and acknowledged and what happens when the link is offline. Agree which software licences and integration hours the price covers.

  • FAT, site work and timing

The page gives 90–120 days for standard delivery and lists separate design, layout, manufacturing, installation and SAT durations. Ask for one dated programme and a signed table of acceptance duties.

  • Service and price

Have manuals, training, maintenance, spare parts, remote access, response times and warranty exclusions written into the quotation. Benlong publishes no price, so work out payback from your own trial results.

Benlong switch line: buyer questions

Will every 8P switch fit the line?

Only a check against your drawing can tell. Pole count says nothing about contact geometry, tooling, stack tolerances, feeders or test connections, so send the drawing and get a signed configuration.

Is the tester's top voltage my switch's operating voltage?

No. The hi-pot tester range and your switch's rated operating voltage are two different specifications. Check each one with your responsible engineer.

Is the MES link ready to plug in?

Plan for integration work. Define the interface, record format, acknowledgement and recovery after failures, then run them against your own factory system.

Has a third party measured the customer results on the page?

Benlong presents them as its own account. Ask for a witnessed trial on your switch, and have price and payback terms set out in the quotation.
