Yitong low-temperature round PV ribbon

Yitong Tech ↗

Round ribbon with a low-melting coating for heat-sensitive cell stringing. Choose one alloy and one diameter, then qualify it against your cell's thermal limit.

Built from Yitong's round-ribbon page and its technical PDF. The sheet gives a melting range without naming each coating alloy or a soldering recipe, and prints its resistivity in Ω·cm.

General illustration of module assembly equipment, not a photograph of this model. Ask the manufacturer for current photographs and layout drawings of the configuration offered.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

Name the coating alloy, the finished and substrate diameters and your cell's heat budget before comparing this ribbon with others or setting up a stringer.

Published specifications

Values below are published by the manufacturer, each with the date its source was checked. Ask for the figures that apply to your configuration and material in the quotation.

The manufacturer has not published a complete specification table for this entry. Request the delivered material specification, drawing where applicable and lot acceptance requirements.

How to read the 118–165°C coating range

The sheet gives one coating melting range, 118–165°C, without linking either end to a particular alloy or product code. Choose the coating variant first. The 118°C figure belongs to one end of the range, so read it as a property of one option and set your soldering temperature from a trial.

If your cells are heat-sensitive, collect the allowed cell exposure, flux needs and heat-transfer conditions from your process engineers. A qualification run at the intended line settings should show sound joints and undamaged cells. Yitong's listing makes no general HJT compatibility claim and offers no approved recipe.

Three things to ask before comparing alloys

  • Alloy and process window

Ask for each coating composition on offer, its solidus and liquidus, the current TDS and any material declarations. One range spanning several options is too broad to choose a flux and thermal profile from.

  • Paired diameter drawing

Request finished diameter, substrate diameter, coating measurement and limits for roundness and concentricity on your order. The sheet gives ranges and leaves those tolerances out.

  • Meaning of the resistivity row

Ask which material and unit the printed resistivity refers to and how it was measured. Hold off ranking this ribbon against others until Yitong answers.

A trial that answers the low-temperature question

  1. Name the cell and coating

Write down cell metallization, contact layout, thermal limits, the chosen alloy and the approved dimensional drawing.

  2. Check feeding

Test spool fit, guides and handling tension with the round wire. Tensile and elongation figures on paper are only part of the picture for steady feeding and low cell damage.

  3. Check joints and cells

Log material lot, flux and thermal profile. Agree joint strength, electrical checks and cell-damage inspection with your engineers, since the sheet sets no pass limit.

  4. Freeze what passed

Keep accepted samples and process records tagged with alloy, diameter, coating, reel and lot. A change to any of these, or to the cell, calls for a fresh review.

Storage, reels and packing for round ribbon

  • Storage limits

Store at 5–35°C with relative humidity of 60% or less. The sheet sets a six-month period; ask when it starts and how sealed and opened reels should be kept.

  • Reel choices

Either Φ160–90–Φ20 (φ16) mm holding 7 kg, or Φ160–145–Φ20 (φ16) mm holding 9 kg. Ask for the reel drawing and the wound length for your diameter.

  • Handling

Guard against knocks, scratches and contamination, rewrap after use and keep the reel shaft horizontal. Confirm packing that suits your transport and payoff equipment.

Round ribbon questions buyers ask

Can I solder at 118°C with every option?

No. 118°C is the bottom of the coating melting range. Each option melts differently, and the full line process needs a trial.

Is the ≥99.95% base material copper?

The round-ribbon sheet leaves the element unnamed. The flat ribbon sheet says copper, but ask Yitong for this product's own composition document.

Can I compare its resistivity with the flat ribbon?

Not yet. Ask Yitong to clarify the unit and material basis first.

Is six months the module lifetime?

No. It is the storage period for the ribbon. Ask for delivery and expiry terms in writing, apart from module reliability testing.
