EncapSil5202GW · EncapSil5202GW PV junction-box potting silicone

Wynca — Zhejiang Xinan Chemical Industrial Group ↗

A condensation-cure silicone that fills and seals PV junction boxes at room temperature. Lide's sheet sets a 6:1 weight ratio and a short working window, so dispensing and degassing need planning.

Potting inside a PV module junction box. EVA film, frame-bonding adhesive and the junction box itself are separate purchases.

General illustration of module assembly equipment, not a photograph of this model. Ask the manufacturer for current photographs and layout drawings of the configuration offered.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

Get the current controlled sheet and confirm Zhejiang Lide as producer. On the line, re-stir A and B separately, dose by weight, degas, and release boxes only after a full-cure check on your own assembly; gel time alone is too early.

EncapSil5202GW and the company that makes it

Wynca's English product table lists EncapSil5202GW for potting PV junction boxes and describes it as a white, flowable alkoxy silicone in two parts. The PDF sheet adds condensation cure at room temperature and gives Zhejiang Lide Silicone Materials as the maker. Lide is a Wynca subsidiary with a 51% direct holding, so ask which company ships your components and signs the quality papers.

Two nearby rows in the table are different products: EncapSil5202XG-2 protects ferrite beads, and GelSil2471 is a polyaddition grade for thin-film PV boxes. Write the complete GW designation on purchase orders, labels and batch records.

Mixing EncapSil5202GW at 6:1 by weight

  1. Stir A and B on their own first

Both components can settle in storage. Stir each one separately before drawing material, because stirring only the combined dose can leave the ratio of active ingredients off. Ask Lide how long and how hard to stir for your drum and dispenser.

  2. Weigh at 6:1

The ratio is by weight. A volumetric 6:1 setting, or one calculated from table densities, would give a different mix. Packs are A in 12 kg pails and B in 2 kg containers, eight B containers to a carton; the ratio stands apart from those sizes.

  3. Mix the whole batch

Stir in one direction to keep air out and bring in material from the container walls and bottom. Lide links poor mixing to soft, uncured spots. Check that your mixer design and upkeep give an even output.

  4. Pour inside the working time

Pour once the mix is even and before working time runs out. Large parts can be filled in several pours, though the sheet gives no layer depth or gap between pours, so set those for your box.

Working time, gel time and full cure on the line

  • 16-minute working window

Measured at 23°C and 55% RH. Heat and humidity change cure speed, and Lide recommends testing incoming material in each season and region. Time your dosing and pouring under real shop conditions.

  • 29-minute gel point

Gel time marks the start of setting. The sheet has no through-cure or release schedule, so ask when your fill depth is fully cured and which checks clear the box for handling, electrical test and packing.

  • Vacuum degassing

Lide advises vacuum after potting with no pressure or time stated. Choose settings that suit your box and electronics, then inspect for voids and cure by your own method.

  • Elastic from −40 to 150°C

The sheet says the cured rubber stays elastic across this range. Module life, diode limits and qualification cycles need their own test report covering the grade and your assembly.

Before approving EncapSil5202GW for production

  • Producer and current documents

Ask for the current TDS and SDS, A/B labels, a batch certificate and the producing company's name. The downloaded sheet carries a 2022 revision date and a document code ending in 2023; ask Lide which one rules.

  • Flame file

UL flame certification is stated on the sheet. Request the file number, rating, tested thickness and grade name, and match them to your box.

  • Surfaces and geometry

List the box polymer, metals, electronics, surface preparation and potting depth. The sheet mentions adhesion to plastics, metal, glass and PPO in general terms; test adhesion on your parts, including after aging.

  • Assembly tests

Agree insulation, aging and environmental tests for the full box. Conductivity and dielectric figures help pick the material; diode temperature comes from your design and test.

  • Storage and repeat supply

Keep sealed, out of light and heat, cool and dry, for up to six months. Ask for the manufacture date, how long an opened container lasts and how to reseal B in particular. File lot numbers and process settings for each run, and make change notices a contract term.

EncapSil5202GW buyer questions

Is 6:1 a volume ratio?

No, it is by weight. Ask Lide for settings that suit your dosing machine.

Can boxes ship 29 minutes after potting?

That figure is gel time at test conditions. Set a full-cure check before boxes move on.

Is 0.32 W/(m·K) enough to keep diodes cool?

That depends on box geometry, heat paths and operating load. Check it with a thermal test or design calculation on your box.

Is there a product photo of this grade?

The sources show no grade-specific packaging photo. The technical sheet is linked in the source list.

Can it double as frame-bonding adhesive?

The table and sheet list it for junction-box potting only. For frame bonding, ask Wynca for a grade specified for that job.
