What the company makes

Hangzhou First Applied Material Co., Ltd., registered in Hangzhou as 杭州福斯特应用材料股份有限公司, is headquartered in Lin’an. The company says it listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in September 2014 under stock code 603806. For module makers, its PV catalogue offers encapsulant films and backsheets. Next to those sit an HJT light-conversion film, a carrier film for busbar-free (0BB) assembly, butyl sealants, structural adhesives and insulating ink. Each of these does a different job in the module, so each needs its own grade and data sheet. Photoresist, FCCL and lithium-battery packaging film belong to other FIRST businesses and fall outside a PV order.

FIRST names PV-material plants in Suzhou, Chuzhou, Jiaxing, Jiangmen, Rayong and Hai Phong, plus the Hangzhou headquarters. A quote should therefore say which entity and which plant will make your rolls, and how lots are identified.

The national standards database lists this Hangzhou company as one of the drafting bodies for GB/T 29848-2018, the current Chinese standard for EVA encapsulation film. That shows FIRST helped write the EVA test rules. Lot tests and module qualification for your own build are separate documents to request with the order.

Start with the actual equipment

The entries below cover selected products and series from this manufacturer. Ask for the full catalogue if your project needs other models.

Pick the material job first, then the FIRST grade

FIRST PV families and the first question to put to the sales team
FamilyWhat FIRST lists it forQuestion for FIRST
EVA filmModule encapsulation, in a normal series and other named EVA series.Which grade fits my cell type, module side and laminating conditions?
POE and co-extruded filmsTheir own encapsulant families in the PV catalogue.Which build suits my stack and its electrical or barrier needs?
HJT light-conversion filmA film made for HJT cells, named in the company introduction. What spectral behaviour does it give, and which cells and stacks does it suit?
0BB carrier filmA material for busbar-free cell assembly.Which assembly layout and film position does it serve, and who owns the process?
Backsheets, adhesives and inkRear protection, bonding and insulation jobs.Which surface and process step is it for, and what qualification papers come with it?

Each family name covers several grades. Ask for the data sheet of the exact grade you will buy. [1][3]

Each family has its own data

The normal EVA table on the catalogue page applies to normal EVA only. POE, co-extruded, light-conversion and carrier films each need their own current data sheet and test conditions, one per line in your bill of materials. [3]

How FIRST splits its normal EVA grades

UV-transmitting or UV-cutoff

FIRST calls F406P/F406PS UV-transmitting and F806P/F806PS UV-cutoff. The listed uses are PERC front and rear, and TOPCon rear. For front-side TOPCon or for HJT, ask FIRST which grade it recommends. [3]

P and PS share one column

The performance table prints F406P and F406PS together. It gives no difference in formula, handling or curing between the two suffixes. Name the suffix you want and get its own sheet. [3]

Short-wave figure on the UV-cutoff pair

The same short-wavelength transmission minimum appears under both pairs, although F806P/F806PS is described as UV-cutoff. Ask FIRST for a corrected spectral table for the grade you order. [3]

Link every roll to the FIRST plant that made it

Which plant makes your film

FIRST separates its PV-material plants from its electronic-material plants. Ask which legal entity and plant will make the grade you pick, and whether moving production to another plant triggers your requalification. FIRST publishes no line output or free capacity figures. [2]

Roll details for the purchase order

Put grade, thickness, width, roll length, lot number and certificate of analysis on the order. Agree packing, transport, storage and how long film may sit exposed before laminating. The normal EVA table lists none of these sizes or shelf-life terms. [3]

Standards role and shipment papers

The standards database shows FIRST helped draft the EVA standard. For your shipment, ask for the lot test results and the qualification documents that match your module stack. [4][3]

Four steps from a FIRST film grade to a working laminating cycle

  1. Describe your stack

Tell FIRST the cell technology, front and rear materials, film position, interconnect layout and the electrical and optical results you need. Mention any glass coating or surface treatment that could change adhesion. [3]

  2. Get a process window

Ask for grade-specific temperature, vacuum, pressure and dwell guidance, how cure is checked and any handling limits. The website says the film laminates easily; your own laminator still needs a tested recipe. [3]

  3. Trial on production-like samples

Agree tests on your real interfaces, cure level and module layout. Log bubbles, alignment, adhesion and the electrical or durability results your plan calls for. [3]

  4. Fix contacts and change approval

Find the current sales or technical contact and name who signs off a grade or plant change. The mailbox on FIRST's contact page belongs to investor relations, so use it for shareholder matters only. [5]

Confirm before ordering

  • How F406P and F406PS differ, the current sheet for your suffix and a corrected spectral table.
  • Film thickness, roll sizes, shelf-life terms and a laminating recipe for your equipment.
  • The plant that will make your order and the module qualification results for your stack.

Buyer questions

Does FIRST sell laminators or module lines?

FIRST's catalogue covers PV materials. It lists no laminator model and no complete production line. [1][3]

Can I use normal EVA figures for the 0BB carrier or HJT light-conversion film?

No. FIRST lists those as separate products. Ask for the data sheet of the actual grade and its job in the module. [1][3]

What is the difference between F406P and F406PS?

The website shows both in one performance column with no stated difference. Ask FIRST for the sheet and process instructions of the suffix you order. [3]

Does FIRST's role in GB/T 29848 certify my module?

No. The standards database lists FIRST among the drafting bodies of the EVA film standard. Conformity of your lots and qualification of your module come from their own test reports. [4]
