Selection considerations
What a backsheet does in the module
The backsheet is the rear outer layer of a glass-backsheet module. It insulates the electrical circuit from the outside, keeps moisture away from the cells and gives the module a surface for the junction box. In module assembly it goes on during layup, on top of the rear encapsulation film, and the stack then cures in a module laminator. A station such as the HORAD backsheet cutting and laying station cuts it from the roll and places it, either alone or as part of wider layup systems. After lamination, the junction box is bonded onto the backsheet, for example with the HORAD junction-box bonding dispenser, using adhesives from PV module bonding materials and boxes from junction-box components. Both machines come from HORAD.
The backsheet listed here
This class lists the EB-cured lightweight PV backsheet from CGN Juner New Materials. Juner coats it without solvent and cures it by electron beam at room temperature, and positions it as a lightweight option. Before you order, ask Juner to name every layer in the stack and the company that produces each one, then freeze that construction in a controlled specification with its delivery state. The guide to qualifying PV module materials explains which ageing data, adhesion results and lot certificates to request.
Lamination and adhesion checks
A backsheet must bond well to the encapsulant during lamination and to the junction-box adhesive afterwards. Run sample modules on your own laminator recipe; the guide on specifying a PV module laminator explains which recipe parameters to record. Test peel strength to the encapsulant and to the junction-box adhesive on those samples, and log the roll and lot numbers so each module can be traced back to its backsheet lot, as set out in the traceability and MES guide.
Ageing and insulation
Backsheet problems usually appear after years outdoors, so plan accelerated ageing on environmental test equipment for the exact construction you buy, and include insulation checks on module electrical safety testing stations. Ask Juner to tell you before any change to layers, coating or curing, and agree incoming checks for every delivered lot.
Plan the equipment scope
Identify the production step, cell or module format and output unit before comparing equipment. Use the listed source, scope and specifications to prepare a configuration-specific enquiry. Missing values are left unspecified and do not count as exact filter matches.
Juner's EB-cured lightweight PV backsheet uses a solvent-free coating cured by electron beam at room temperature, and was shown as an EB-coated flexible sheet in September 2026. Grade code, thickness, roll width, bend radius and barrier data are not published. To quote it, send your module build and request a layer-by-layer specification and a numbered sample.
