F406P / F406PS normal EVA encapsulation film
Hangzhou First Applied Material Co., Ltd. ↗F406P and F406PS are the UV-transmitting pair in FIRST's normal EVA encapsulant series. FIRST publishes one data column for both, so order by exact suffix with its own technical sheet.
A consumable for PV module production, supplied as encapsulant film. FIRST lists normal-series uses as PERC front and rear and TOPCon rear. For front-side TOPCon or HJT, ask FIRST which grade it recommends.
General illustration of module assembly equipment, not a photograph of this model. Ask the manufacturer for current photographs and layout drawings of the configuration offered.
START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK
Settle the suffix and module side first. Then ask FIRST to confirm in writing the roll sizes, storage terms and a laminating window for your machine. Use the published values to shortlist the film, and qualify the finished module with your own trials.

Published specifications
Values below are published by the manufacturer, each with the date its source was checked. Ask for the figures that apply to your configuration and material in the quotation.
The manufacturer has not published a complete specification table for this entry. Request the delivered material specification, drawing where applicable and lot acceptance requirements.
01 · Manufacturer information
Which F406 suffix, and which side of the module
FIRST lists F406P and F406PS as UV-transmitting grades in its normal EVA series. Their counterparts, F806P and F806PS, are the UV-cutoff grades. FIRST names PERC front and rear and TOPCon rear as the uses. Keep the grade name, cell type and module side on your enquiry; a bare request for solar EVA loses the spectral choice.
One data column covers both F406P and F406PS, and FIRST states no difference between them. Ask for the exact suffix, its current technical data sheet and confirmation for your module position. The roll pictured on the catalogue page is FIRST's general EVA artwork rather than a labelled F406 sample.

Reading the F406 numbers for a module build
Film electrical values and module ratings
Volume resistivity, dielectric strength and CTI are three separate film tests. A module voltage rating, a PID result or a stack certificate each needs its own test report, so request the ones your module requires.
Glass peel and backsheet peel
FIRST gives ≥60 N/cm to glass and ≥40 N/cm to backsheet, under different references. Tell FIRST your glass coating or backsheet surface and test your own production surfaces.
Cured film figures
Tensile strength and elongation are quoted for cured film. Handling rules for the uncured roll and the curing time come from the technical sheet. The gel-content minimum tells you the target; the laminator temperature and dwell that reach it come from trials.
Shrinkage in two directions
Machine direction allows up to 3.0% and transverse direction up to 1.5%. Keep both on your drawing and sample plan, get the test conditions, and check layup and alignment against each one.

Two points in the FIRST table to settle with the sales team
VA content cites GB/T 29848-2013, while most other rows cite the 2018 edition. The national standards database shows that the 2018 edition replaced 2013. Ask FIRST which method and edition apply to the current grade and to your shipment.
The F806P/F806PS column shows the same short-wavelength transmission value as the F406 pair, although FIRST calls the F806 grades UV-cutoff. If you are choosing between the two pairs, ask for a corrected spectral sheet with the wavelength range and FIRST's advice on front or rear use.

Setting up a laminating trial with F406 film
Name the materials and position
Give FIRST the F406 suffix, cell technology, front and rear build, surfaces and interconnect layout. Ask for its recommended use for that exact build.
Set roll and storage terms
Ask for thickness and tolerance, width, roll length, lot number, packing, storage temperature and humidity, shelf life and the time allowed after opening. The shared data table lists none of these.
Get a laminating window
Share your laminator model and cycle limits, then ask for temperature, vacuum, pressure and dwell guidance and the method for checking cure. Treat the gel-content minimum as the target your recipe must reach.
Agree sample and module acceptance
Tie adhesion, cure, optical and electrical checks to your stack and qualification plan. Record each sample, its conditioning and the results. Agree that any change of suffix, formula or plant needs your approval first.

Questions before ordering F406P or F406PS
How do F406P and F406PS differ?
The table groups them and gives no suffix-specific process notes. Ask FIRST for the current individual sheet and its recommendation for your module.
Is F406 listed for front-side TOPCon or HJT?
The normal-series uses are PERC front and rear and TOPCon rear. For other cell types or positions, ask FIRST to confirm the grade in writing.
Does FIRST publish laminator settings?
The table gives no temperature, vacuum, pressure or dwell values. Ask for process guidance and prove it on your own laminator and stack.
Is the pictured roll an F406 lot?
It is FIRST's general EVA artwork. Grade, thickness, lot number and test papers should arrive with the quote and with each delivery.
What should FIRST confirm in writing before I order?
The suffix and its sheet, roll sizes and storage terms, a laminating window, the quoting entity and the plant that makes your film. Long-term module performance comes from your own qualification tests.
