Silicon cutting coolant

DIASC / Sanchao ↗

A water-soluble synthetic fluid that cools and lubricates diamond wire and carries away debris when sawing silicon wafers and polysilicon.

All values come from Sanchao's coolant page. Sanchao calls the fluid non-toxic, kind to skin and free of pollution; the page carries no SDS or test report to go with that.

General illustration of wafer processing equipment, not a photograph of this model. Ask the manufacturer for current photographs and layout drawings of the configuration offered.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

Get the current SDS and technical sheet for the exact grade, check them against your water, materials and plant, then trial cut quality, residue, circulation and fluid use with Sanchao's guidance.

Published specifications

Values below are published by the manufacturer, each with the date its source was checked. Ask for the figures that apply to your configuration and material in the quotation.

The manufacturer has not published a complete specification table for this entry. Request the exact offered drawing and operating limits.

What the coolant is and how Sanchao describes its safety

The fluid is a synthetic, water-soluble mix: surfactants and lubricants, rust inhibitors and further additives, according to Sanchao. It cools the wire, lubricates the cut and flushes out silicon fines. Sanchao names wafer and polysilicon sawing with diamond wire among its uses. The page also mentions a German-origin formulation and a long history; ask for formulation or licence papers if that matters to your purchase.

Sanchao says the fluid causes no toxicity, skin harm, pollution or corrosion. For handling and waste planning, ask for the current SDS, hazard classification, material compatibility results and wastewater guidance for the grade you will receive. Check those papers against your own site rules before the first drum arrives.

Papers and site details to settle

  • Grade documents

Exact grade name, SDS, technical sheet, lot and expiry, plus Sanchao's storage, handling and upkeep instructions.

  • Fit with your process

Your saw, wire, silicon type, water quality and cleanliness targets; ask Sanchao to confirm metals, seals and filters are compatible.

  • Loop control

Dilution basis, what to monitor, filtration, top-up and the point at which the bath is replaced.

  • Site duties

Assess fluid and waste streams against your plant rules using the documents for the grade and site; plan disposal as for any industrial fluid.

Trial the fluid and the cut together

  1. Settle the grade

Have the SDS, the test conditions behind each property and the dilution basis in hand before cutting.

  2. Record the loop

Note water and plant conditions and the fluid and process controls Sanchao approves.

  3. Check the silicon

Measure geometry and damage, residue and cleaning results and any downstream effect, with traceable stock.

  4. Follow bath life

Track foaming, filtration and fines load, fluid use and replacement, and who handles and disposes of spent fluid.

Cutting-coolant questions

Is there an SDS behind the non-toxic wording?

None is published on the page. Ask for the current SDS and hazard assessment.

Is 1:20 all I need to mix the bath?

No. Ask for the ratio basis and mixing guidance for the supplied grade, your water and your process.

Do these property values predict wafer yield?

No silicon cutting data is published. Your trial sets the yield figure.
