HORAD conventional gantry string-layup station
Suzhou HORAD New Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. ↗Two gantry heads lay cell strings onto the glass from opposite sides at once, fed from stringers, buffer racks or a manual loading point. HORAD drives the heads with linear motors and harmonic reducers and offers string flipping and solder-strip cutting as options.
This is HORAD's original gantry layup machine. HORAD sells a BC high-speed gantry and a robotic layup cell as separate products with their own data sheets.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK
Order this station when your line already makes finished strings and needs them arranged on glass at two feed points. Before ordering, ask HORAD to confirm in writing the cycle time and placement tolerance for your string layout, the option set and the handshake with your glass conveyor.

What the gantry does on the glass
HORAD describes automatic string layup in horizontal or vertical orientation, with AB string arrangements. Both sides can place strings at the same moment without the heads getting in each other's way. Linear motors and harmonic reducers move the gantry, and HORAD calls the placement high-accuracy.
Strings can arrive from horizontal or vertical buffer positions or be loaded by hand. Flipping a string over and cutting the solder strip are optional extras. The machine arranges strings that another machine has already made, so you still need a stringer upstream.

Published size and utility figures
| Item | HORAD figure | What to ask for |
|---|---|---|
| Module size entry | 1650–2550 × 990 × 1450 mm | A format drawing showing which length and width pairs the gantry accepts. |
| Supply / power | 380 V / 22 kW | Phase, frequency and whether 22 kW is peak or running load. |
| Compressed air | 0.6–0.8 MPa | Air consumption and required dryness and filtration. |
| Machine size, L × H × W | 3600 × 3230 × 2000 mm | Extra floor space for both buffers and service access. |
| Weight | 4 T | Floor load and lifting points for transport. |

Feed paths and options to settle
Two string supplies
Name the stringer or buffer that feeds each side. Agree how far apart the two arrivals may drift and what the gantry does when one side stops feeding.
Buffers and hand loading
Mark where operators load strings by hand, how many strings each buffer holds and what supports them. Make sure a string keeps the same orientation whichever path it takes.
Flip and cut options
If your layout needs flipped strings or cut solder strip, put those options and their tooling drawings in the order. Check that HORAD's AB arrangement matches your electrical layout.

Trial plan for the layup station
Sign off the layout
Draw both inputs, the buffers, manual stations and the glass conveyor on one plan. Fix string orientation, grippers and options.
Measure where strings land
Lay real strings, measure their position against agreed reference points and look for cracked cells. Write the placement and cycle figures into the contract.
Starve and block each side
Stop one feed, fill and empty the buffers, and block the outfeed. Check how the machine restarts and how a half-filled glass is tracked.
Run a format change
Switch orientation, templates and tooling, then inspect the first finished array. Save the recipe and tooling records.

Buyer questions on the gantry layup
Is this the BC high-speed gantry?
No. HORAD lists the BC machine on its own page with its own figures, so ask for that data sheet if you build back-contact modules.
Are string flipping and cutting included in the base machine?
HORAD lists both as options. Ask for the quotation to name each option you are buying.
How many modules per hour can it lay up?
HORAD gives no hourly rate. Real output depends on how evenly strings arrive, buffer size and whether the next station is ready, so ask for a rate based on your layout. Your stringer output sets the ceiling here, and our guide to comparing stringer throughput explains how those rates are quoted.
