HORAD BC gantry string-layup station

Suzhou HORAD New Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. ↗

The gantry takes strings that a stringer has already built and arranges them on the glass. Linear motors and servo drives move it, and a camera finds position. HORAD lists horizontal and vertical layup plus AB and BC string patterns, with flipping and solder-strip cutting as add-ons.

HORAD shows this as an equipment family under a high-speed title. The page gives module format, utilities, two machine envelopes and weight. It names no cycle time, placement tolerance or breakage rate, so get those figures with the offer. For lines without BC modules, HORAD's original auto string layup gantry places strings from two sides at once.

General illustration of module assembly equipment, not a photograph of this model. Ask the manufacturer for current photographs and layout drawings of the configuration offered.

Strings in, arranged array out

Strings arrive from the stringer and the gantry places them automatically. HORAD says it can lay them horizontally or vertically and in AB or BC patterns. Flipping a string and cutting the solder strip are both optional. Drive is by linear motor and servo, with vision for positioning.

HORAD also says the machine moves between conventional and BC panels through a modular change it calls replacing panels, without saying which parts are swapped. Ask for the full tooling and template kit. The title says high-speed and the page mentions one-click switching, but neither comes with a cycle time or changeover time you could test against.

Order the options by name

  • Layout and polarity

Attach drawings of the horizontal, vertical, AB and BC patterns you run, with polarity. Confirm which patterns are supported and how the stringer hands strings over.

  • Flipping

If strings must be turned over, add the flip option and ask for gripper and contact details for your string. Check cell condition after flipping in the trial.

  • Solder-strip cutting

Supply the strip drawing and where cuts are allowed. Agree how offcuts are collected and how cut quality is checked, apart from placement. If busbar joining should happen in the same footprint, look at HORAD's BC layup and soldering integrated machine as well.

  • Changeover kit

List the tooling, templates, recipes and operator steps for each module type. A one-click recipe switch can still involve swapping hardware by hand.

Proving your layouts on the gantry

  1. Fix strings and tooling

Record cell and string size and thickness, the orientations you need, the grippers and every ordered option against a controlled layout.

  2. Check position and damage

Using agreed reference points and typical strings, measure where they land, look for handling damage and test recovery when input varies.

  3. Time a changeover

Switch between conventional and BC set-ups with the real tooling and recipes. Log the time taken and check the first array afterwards.

  4. Connect to the line

Test string supply from upstream, glass positioning, downstream ready signals and fault recovery. Write the agreed sustained output into the contract.

Questions on the BC gantry

Do flipping and strip cutting come as standard?

HORAD lists both as options. Put the exact set you need in the quotation and the acceptance plan.

How fast is high-speed?

The page gives no cycle figure. Ask HORAD for one on your layout and time it in the trial.

Is the one-click change only software?

The page also mentions replacing parts. Ask which tooling is swapped and what the operator has to do.
