HORAD module edge-taping station

Suzhou HORAD New Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. ↗

This HORAD station runs tape around the glass edge of a module. Several cylinders in the sealing head let it follow the panel with a light, flexible contact, while a servo synchronous belt positions the module and high-speed-steel blades cut the tape. A lifting platform completes the machine.

HORAD calls the station precise and its cutters long-lived but gives no figures for either. Tape grade, width, thickness, overlap and contact pressure are all left to the buyer to define. Tape put on here is later pulled off by HORAD's auto edge tape removing station, so judge both machines on the same tape.

General illustration of module assembly equipment, not a photograph of this model. Ask the manufacturer for current photographs and layout drawings of the configuration offered.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

Hand HORAD the tape you use and a drawing of the edge, say what a good wrap and cut look like, and run the trial through a refill and with worn blades as well as fresh ones.

How the taping head meets the glass

The sealing head combines several cylinders so it can give a little as it presses tape against the panel edge. A servo-driven synchronous belt carries the module into position, a lifting platform raises it, and high-speed-steel cutters finish each tape run. HORAD describes the result as high precision with long cutter life, without a number for either. Within module assembly this tape guards the glass edge, while strings are held with a separate tape at HORAD's string taping station.

HORAD lists a refueling time below 60 seconds. The page leaves open what is being refilled, which steps are timed and whether the line keeps moving meanwhile. Ask HORAD to spell this out. A refill figure tells you little about module takt or about splicing a new roll on the fly.

What to put in the tape specification

  • The tape itself

Name the backing, adhesive, width, thickness, roll and core size, and how it is stored. Ask HORAD to state in writing that the station runs that tape. The tape has to come off cleanly after your laminator cycle, so include that heat history when you choose it.

  • Edge and corner layout

Draw the coverage, overlaps, tape ends, corner wrap and any zones to keep clear. Add the glass-edge finish and module thickness.

  • Head force and blades

Agree how head pressure is set and limited, blade settings, when blades are swapped, and how film pull or glass chips are spotted.

  • Pass and fail

Write down limits for position, wrinkles, lifting, cut ends and corners, and keep agreed samples. That replaces the general word precise with something you can measure.

Running the edge-taping trial

  1. Freeze tape and formats

Agree the tape and the module sizes before HORAD sets head contact and blade conditions.

  2. Walk every edge

Measure where the tape sits and how much it covers. Look at cut ends, wrinkles and adhesion, and check for glass or module damage on each edge type.

  3. Watch a refill

Time the refill steps and note whether output stops, buffers or rejects. Ask HORAD to state plainly whether the station keeps running during a refill.

  4. Test wear and restart

Agree blade checks and swap rules, then break the tape, run a roll empty and restart. Keep the accepted pattern, settings and samples on file.

Edge-taping questions

Is under 60 seconds the time per module?

HORAD ties that figure to a refill. Ask separately for the module cycle.

Will the soft-contact head never chip glass?

HORAD makes no damage promise. Try the head on your real edge finish and thickness.

How long do the cutters last?

HORAD says long, without a figure or test. Ask for a blade-change interval with your tape.
