HORAD string-taping station
Suzhou HORAD New Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. ↗This station tapes cell strings to the glass so they stay put on the way to lamination. Glass is squared by servo, tape points are placed by coordinates and a rotating module cuts each piece to a fixed length.
HORAD's original string-taping machine. The page gives a time per tape point and a refill time but no tape size range and no time for a whole module. Tape around the edge of the finished module is a separate job, done on HORAD's auto edge taping station.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK
It suits lines that want tape fixing automated right after layup. Send HORAD your tape and point pattern first, and get the full-module cycle in writing, along with a description of the refill step and the placement tolerance.

How the taping station works
HORAD lists servo glass straightening, coordinate positioning of each tape point and a rotating cutter that cuts tape to a fixed length. Each point takes 0.9 seconds. To estimate a module cycle, multiply by the number of points in your pattern and add travel between points and glass transfer in and out.
The page also gives a refueling time of less than 60 seconds. On a taping machine this most likely means loading a new tape roll. Ask HORAD to describe the refill step, when the 60 seconds starts and stops, and whether the line keeps running during it.

Match the tape, the pattern and lamination
Your tape
Send width, thickness, adhesive type and roll and core size. Have your process team confirm the tape survives your lamination cycle.
Your point pattern
Mark every tape position, cut length, allowed offset and any keep-out zone near contacts. The pattern sets both the cycle and the tooling. Tape points must also clear the gripper paths of an upstream layup gantry, so share both drawings with HORAD.
Hold and cleanliness
Agree how firmly the tape must hold, how much residue is acceptable and how much the strings may shift, judged on your own glass and film.

Trial a full pattern and a roll change
Fix tape and pattern
Lock the tape grade, roll holder, cut lengths and coordinate references to your module drawing.
Time a whole module
Check cut length and placement of each piece, then time a complete module including travel and transfer.
Change a roll
Run a roll to empty, load a new one and restart. Count scrap and note any modules that need a second look.
Send samples through lamination
Laminate taped samples on your route, keep the good ones as reference and control any later tape change.

Buyer questions on string taping
Is 0.9 seconds the module cycle?
No. It is the time for one tape point. A module takes that time per point plus travel and glass transfer.
Does the refill happen without stopping?
HORAD only gives a time under 60 seconds. Ask whether it is a non-stop splice or a short stop for a manual roll change.
Which tape sizes does it take?
The data table lists none. Send your tape specification and ask HORAD to confirm it fits the cutter and roll holder.
