HORAD backsheet cutting and laying station

Suzhou HORAD New Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. ↗

This HORAD station cuts backsheet from the roll and lays it on the module, using tension control, path correction and automatic roll changing. Multilayer backsheet behaves differently from EVA film, so run your own backsheet and cut pattern on it.

HORAD lists no backsheet constructions, no film or roll thickness limits, no cut tolerance and no full-module cycle for this station. Request them with the quotation.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

Define your backsheet build, cut and opening geometry and splice rules, then measure cutting and laying on both fresh and nearly empty rolls.

From backsheet roll to module

Feed rollers run in sync at constant tension while automatic correction keeps the web straight. A servo stage squares the glass. When a roll ends, a hot-melt splice joins the new one, and HORAD gives less than 50 seconds per change with no line stop. Layup accuracy is ±1.5 mm.

The feature list reads much like HORAD's EVA station, but the backsheet machine has its own table: 8 kW, a different footprint and 5.2 T. Plan its settings separately. Tell HORAD the layer build, surface finish, how the sheet shrinks or stretches, and every cut or opening you need.

Send the real backsheet and cut drawing

  • Backsheet build

List the layers, thickness, surface treatment and the handling and temperature limits from your backsheet supplier. Ask HORAD which constructions it supports and whether hot-melt splicing suits yours.

  • Cuts and openings

Give length, width, overhang, any ribbon-exit slits or openings and the edge finish you accept. Ask HORAD directly whether this station cuts slits and openings.

  • Splice handling

Decide whether a splice may end up inside a module, how the machine marks and rejects it, and how big the buffer is for a non-stop change. HORAD makes no zero-scrap promise.

Three results to check: cut, lay and roll change

  1. Approve the drawings

Sign off backsheet and roll drawings, the cuts and openings you need, and the formats and tooling HORAD will supply.

  2. Measure production samples

Check cut shape and layup position on the glass from fresh rolls and nearly empty ones. Note skew, wrinkles and surface marks.

  3. Watch a roll change

See how the splice is made, buffered and rejected. A 50-second change time tells you nothing about full-line takt, so time the line separately.

  4. Test faults and the laminate

Force a feed failure, a failed splice and a downstream stop. Keep approved material on file and complete your module-stack qualification before routine output.

Backsheet station FAQ

Can I copy settings from HORAD's EVA cutter?

Backsheet is a different material on a different machine. Develop and trial its own settings.

Does it cut ribbon-exit openings?

The page is silent on openings. Send the geometry and ask HORAD to state the cutting and slitting scope in the quotation.

Is ±1.5 mm a cutting tolerance?

HORAD publishes it as laying accuracy. Agree separate limits for cuts and openings.

With non-stop roll change, can splices go into modules?

That is your call. Write the splice rule, tracking and reject handling into the order.
