HORAD lead-wire solder-joint inspection station

Suzhou HORAD New Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. ↗

A camera locates each soldered lead in the junction box and steers a probe onto it. The probe pushes the lead, a pressure sensor reads the force and the software decides whether the joint is sound.

HORAD's original lead-wire inspection machine. HORAD gives module sizes and utilities but no force range, loading speed, pass threshold or measurement uncertainty.

General illustration of testing & inspection equipment, not a photograph of this model. Ask the manufacturer for current photographs and layout drawings of the configuration offered.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

Use it to catch weak junction-box solder joints before the module leaves the line. Put these in the purchase contract: probe force and travel, whether the test leaves the joint intact, the sensor calibration method and how results link to each module serial.

Camera first, then a push test

The conveyor squares the module from all four sides. A camera then checks the junction-box welds and the position of each lead. A probe pushes the welded lead outward, and the software reads the thrust to pick out weak or under-soldered joints. Results are saved automatically. The check belongs to the testing and inspection stage, once the box leads have been soldered.

HORAD's performance notes say the vision system finds the leads inside the box and guides the pins, while pressure sensors measure the force applied. The method combines a visual check with a mechanical one. Whether the push leaves a good joint undamaged, and what force counts as a pass, are things to agree with HORAD for your joint design.

Setting up a fair push test

  • Probe and push direction

Send drawings of the joint, ribbon and box. Agree probe tip shape, contact point, push direction, speed and maximum travel and force, or two equal readings may mean different things.

  • Damage limit

Decide whether every module is pushed without harm, a sample is pushed to failure, or a failed joint goes to rework. Set how much bending is acceptable and what is checked afterwards.

  • Calibration and pass limit

Get the sensor range, calibration method, uncertainty and reference parts. Base the pass force on your joint qualification data.

  • Visual defect list

Define missing solder, thin solder and misplaced leads on your own box surfaces. Run defect samples and count false passes and false rejects.

Acceptance run for the joint tester

  1. Lock the test conditions

Sign off joint design, probe mechanics, camera lighting and position, and the pass limits with your engineers.

  2. Test known good and bad joints

Run characterised samples several times to check repeatability. Inspect each joint after the push to see whether it was damaged.

  3. Check the records and rejects

Make sure each force reading, vision result and time stamp lands on the right module and box. Try a failed test, a lost serial and a manual decision.

  4. Plan calibration and changes

Agree how often the sensor is checked, and review any change to joint shape, soldering, sensor or software before it reaches production.

Buyer questions on joint inspection

Does this machine solder the leads?

No. It inspects joints made at an earlier station. Soldering needs its own machine and recipe. HORAD builds that step as a separate machine, its auto J-box soldering station.

Will the push test damage good joints?

Ask HORAD to state the force and travel limits and show the joint condition after a test on your parts.

What force counts as a pass?

HORAD publishes no threshold. Set it from your own joint design and a controlled test method.

Can results go to our MES?

The page says data is saved automatically but gives no interface or data format. Specify how results match module serials and how they are exported.
