PV visual inspection systems

Find machinery by production stage and the requirements of your line.

Selection considerations

Two gates at the end of the module line

Visual inspection stations in this class sit near the end of module assembly and feed the testing and inspection stage. They catch faults a person might miss at line speed and stop a bad module before it is packed. Both listed stations come from HORAD, which also builds many of the neighbouring stations, so you can buy them as part of a module production line or fit them into an existing one.

Solder-joint inspection after the junction box

The lead-wire solder-joint inspection station checks the joints inside the junction box. A camera finds each soldered lead, steers a probe onto it, and a pressure sensor reads the force when the probe pushes. Software then decides whether the joint holds. The check sits between the junction-box soldering station and the junction-box potting station, because once potting materials cover the joint, a weak one can no longer be repaired. Write the probe force and travel into the contract, ask whether the push leaves the joint intact, and agree how the force sensor is calibrated. Make sure each result is stored against the module serial, using the record format from the guide on MES interfaces and traceability. Box and lead designs come from the junction-box components class, so share the exact box drawing with HORAD.

Label verification before packing

The label-verification station aligns each module with cylinders, then reads three labels: the front barcode, the frame code and the nameplate. It follows the dual-printer labeling station and the framing equipment that carries the frame code. Give HORAD all three layouts and the expected values, and run wrong, missing, unreadable and shifted labels through the station before acceptance. The machine vision guide for PV equipment explains how to build that labelled sample set, and the FAT and SAT guide shows where each test belongs.

Linking inspection to grading

An inspection result only helps when it drives an action. Decide how rejects leave the line and how the station talks to the module electrical-test station, module electrical safety testing and the grade-driven sorting system, so every module lands in the right bin with its full record.

Plan the equipment scope

For pv visual inspection systems, begin your enquiry with inspection surfaces, defect definitions and the available line space. Request a configuration-specific quotation and agree on illumination, sample coverage, false-reject criteria and integration with line controls. Each listing shows the published values and the questions to confirm.

Selection guide

Visual inspection systems must be specified against visible surfaces and defined defect classes. The proposal should explain illumination, image capture, decision rules and the action taken on a rejected part. Test detection on your own PV product before relying on a machine-vision label.

Inputs to prepare before shortlisting

Surfaces and samples
Identify cell, glass, frame or module surfaces and provide representative examples. Define acceptable variation and defects before selecting the camera or classifier.
Station conditions
State available space, transport speed, part position and illumination constraints. Ask how reflections, movement and changes in product appearance are handled.
Decision and recovery
Define review, reject routing, identification and manual override. Assign responsibility for settings, retraining or rule changes as the product mix evolves.

Make quotations comparable

Compare detection and false-reject results on the same labelled sample set. Request the inspection coverage and blind areas. Separate camera resolution and processing speed from demonstrated performance on the required defect classes.

Plan the acceptance test

Agree a labelled reference set and test the whole station under representative handling and lighting conditions. Record missed defects, false rejects and ambiguous cases using agreed definitions. Confirm traceability and recovery after an interrupted cycle.

Avoid this comparison mistake

Do not accept a generic accuracy percentage without its sample set, defect definition and operating conditions. A demonstration image is not a production acceptance record.
