HORAD jumper welding and Z-lead station

Suzhou HORAD New Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. ↗

Busbar comes off a coil, is cut to length and bent into upward Z-shaped leads, which the station then welds to jumper wires on the module glass. A fume extractor sits above the welding area.

HORAD's original integrated welding machine. HORAD names full-screen and segmented patterns but gives no welding force, current or time and no joint strength figure.

General illustration of module assembly equipment, not a photograph of this model. Ask the manufacturer for current photographs and layout drawings of the configuration offered.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

It fits lines that want jumper welding and Z-lead forming done in one place on the glass. Share jumper and Z-lead drawings with HORAD and have the quotation state the joining method, process settings, joint test results and extraction rate. For back-contact modules, HORAD also offers a BC layup and soldering integrated machine that joins busbar while strings are laid out.

Welding jumpers on the glass

HORAD says the station welds jumper wires directly on the glass module. It works with full-screen layouts and conventional segmented patterns, given as 3-cell and 4-cell. Busbar tape feeds from a coil and is cut to the length needed, and the machine bends upward Z leads and joins them to the jumpers. Strings reach the glass from a layup station before this welding step.

Control runs through a PLC and touchscreen. The module is aligned from four sides and templates can be switched for a new layout. HORAD also says material can be changed while running without stopping and fits a top-mounted extractor for spot-welding fumes. Process settings, extraction capacity and joint results are not published, so ask which joining method HORAD supplies for your stack.

Three things to specify together

  • Busbar and Z-lead shape

Send busbar material, coating, cross-section, reel and core size, cut lengths and a full Z-lead drawing. Ask for the bend radius range, springback and cut and bend tolerances.

  • Welding conditions

Ask which joining method HORAD supplies, the consumables and the heat, force or electrical settings for your materials. Get these figures from HORAD rather than working them out from the 9 kW rating.

  • Extraction and line handover

Agree how fumes are captured, the duct connection and filter maintenance. Specify supports and positioning so the welded array stays in place on the way out. The welded array then travels on toward lamination, so ask how it stays flat during that transfer.

Trial the finished jumper on your module

  1. Match the pattern names

Check what HORAD means by full-screen and segmented against your module and its 3-cell or 4-cell layout. Lock materials, sizes and tooling.

  2. Inspect cut, bend and weld

Run real coils and modules. Measure lead shape, mechanical and electrical joint results and any cell damage, with the settings recorded.

  3. Change a coil while running

Let a coil run out, replenish or splice it and watch output continue. Count rejected pieces and agree how new material is logged.

  4. Test extraction and faults

Check the extraction and safety setup, then trigger a positioning error and an interrupted weld. Save the accepted recipes and control later changes.

Buyer questions on jumper welding

Is 9 kW the welding energy?

No. It is the machine power. Ask HORAD for the joining method and its own process settings.

What soldering temperature does it use?

HORAD publishes no soldering or spot-welding recipe. Ask for one developed on your materials.

Does a running coil change mean zero scrap?

HORAD gives no scrap figure for the change. Run a coil change during the trial and count rejects.
