NWSS-840 · Adjustable multiwire monocrystal cropper

TDG NISSIN ↗

A multiwire cropper for monocrystalline ingots that makes seven cuts in one setup to give six segments, with adjustable cut length and automatic centring.

TDG NISSIN lists the NWSS-840 twice in its catalogue with matching descriptions, and both entries are covered here. The data sheet gives 8 or 9 inch diameters; one catalogue summary gives 8–12 inch and seven heads.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

Pick the NWSS-840 for cutting long mono ingots into several segments in one setup. Confirm the diameter, approve a cut map with head, tail and sample allowances, then trial length changes, finished geometry and the handling of long ingots from start to finish. For three shorter ingots cropped side by side, compare the maker's three-ingot cropper.

Six segments from one long ingot

The NWSS-840 takes a monocrystalline ingot 1800–4000 mm long and makes seven cuts to give six segments. Cut length can be set anywhere between 300 and 700 mm. TDG NISSIN says the machine centres the ingot by itself and changes cut length without cutting the wire, and that it also crops head and tail ends and takes samples. After cropping, round mono segments are usually squared next, and the maker's two-station squarer handles that job.

The model appears twice in the TDG NISSIN catalogue with near-identical text, so both entries are combined on one page. The two differ on size: one catalogue summary says 8–12 inch stock and seven heads, while the data sheet lists 8 or 9 inch diameters.

Some mixes of cut lengths will not fit a given ingot. The sheet has no diagram showing where samples, cut-off ends and the six segments fall for each stock length, so send your own cut map with the enquiry.

Questions for the NWSS-840 quotation

  • Ingots and pieces you keep

Give the spread of incoming diameter and length, the head and tail allowance and every segment and sample you keep. Check the chosen cut lengths add up within the ingot.

  • Adjustment and centring

Ask for head and fixture positions, the allowed adjustment sequence and the reference used for automatic centring. Ask to see a length change made with the wire left in place.

  • Measurement and damage

Set limits for cut position, segment length, face geometry and sample condition, with methods and allowed chips and cracks. Ask which coated diamond wire and wire diameter suit your segment faces.

  • Handling and cooling

Get the long-ingot support and handling, cooling flow, temperature and filtration, and the waste package. Port sizes alone tell you nothing about cooling demand.

Trialling length changes and output

  1. Settle diameter and cut map

Approve the configuration, your actual ingots and a drawing of kept, rejected and sample pieces.

  2. Watch a length change

See adjustment and centring done with the agreed procedure and the settings recorded.

  3. Measure every piece

Inspect all six segments and the samples for size, geometry and damage.

  4. Run full cycles

Include loading, support, cut-offs and unloading. Test a wire fault and a centring fault and keep track of part-cut ingots.

Adjustable ingot cropping questions

Why does one page cover two catalogue listings?

Both name the NWSS-840 with matching text. Putting them together keeps the size difference between them in plain view.

Does the NWSS-840 take 12-inch ingots?

The data sheet lists 8 or 9 inches, while one catalogue summary says 8–12 inch. Have TDG NISSIN state in writing which diameters your machine will handle.

How thick are the sample slices?

TDG NISSIN publishes no cut map or sample thickness. Define both in the configuration you order.
