EVA repositioning and local pre-melt

Suzhou SC-Solar Equipment Co., Ltd. ↗

This station lines up the encapsulant film on the glass with cameras and servo axes, levels it, and melts four small spots so the sheet cannot drift before the strings go on. SC-Solar quotes ±1 mm correction in 15 seconds or less.

SC-Solar sells this machine as an EVA floating, repositioning and pre-melting station. Its older web address calls it a film-handling machine; the current title describes correction plus local fixing, which is the better guide to what it does.

START WITH YOUR PRODUCTION TASK

Buy it if film shift between the glass loader and the layup station is costing you rework. Before ordering, agree the largest film-to-glass offset the machine must correct, how hot and how long the four tack points may touch your film, and how far the film may move after transfer. Then judge the trial on modules that have travelled the real conveyor, since tacking is a holding step and gives no information about cure.

How the station corrects and tacks the film

A vision system finds the glass and film edges, and servo axes push the film back into line and flatten it. Four hot-melt points then fix the sheet so it cannot slide a second time. SC-Solar says operators can pick the module type and the deviation range on the panel. The page gives no figure for the largest offset it can pull back, no camera reference, and no temperature or contact time for the tack points, so ask for those in the quotation.

The ±1 mm figure covers placement at the station. It tells you nothing about flatness across the whole sheet or about lamination. Because the tack points heat the film locally, ask SC-Solar which film grades it has run, what settings it uses, and how the tacked spots behave in your laminator. The result that matters is a stack that is still square when it reaches the layup robot.

What to send SC-Solar with your enquiry

  • Glass and film as they arrive

Sizes, film grade, how far the film is usually off and whether wrinkles occur, plus the edges you want used as references.

  • Tack points

Where the four spots may go, which areas must stay untouched, and what marks on the film you will accept.

  • Position after transfer

How much movement you allow between this station and string layup on your own conveyor.

  • Who controls the recipe

Which settings operators can change, how out-of-range sheets are rejected, and who handles inspection and rework.

Factory acceptance trial for the pre-melt station

  1. Fix the setup

Agree the camera references, servo layout, tack settings and film grade before the run.

  2. Feed real offsets

Load sheets deliberately placed off-line within the agreed range and measure alignment and flatness, rather than watching the axes move empty.

  3. Look at the tacked spots

Check each point for marks or damage, then carry modules through a representative transfer and measure where the film ended up.

  4. Test recovery

Feed a sheet too far off to correct and confirm the reject path, mode changes and a safe restart with logged settings.

Buyer questions on EVA repositioning

Is pre-melting the same as curing the encapsulant?

No. SC-Solar describes four small local melt points that hold the film; curing happens in the laminator.

How large an offset can it correct?

The catalogue gives no number. Ask SC-Solar to state the range in writing for your film and glass.

Will the film stay within ±1 mm downstream?

Measure it after your real transfer during the trial and write the allowed shift into acceptance.
