Crystal growth components

Selection considerations

Parts that go inside a crystal puller

Crystal growth components are the chambers, seals and insulation that sit inside or on a furnace used to pull silicon ingots at the start of wafer processing. The complete machines belong to crystal growth furnaces, for example NAURA's Czochralski silicon growth furnace from NAURA. Parts in this class are bought to fit such a furnace, as spares or as subassemblies for a furnace builder. Neighbouring consumables include the quartz crucible from process quartz parts, its coating under crucible coating materials, and graphite hot-zone parts under process graphite parts. The pulled ingot then moves on to silicon ingot grinding.

Three different purchases in one class

The listed items cover three quite different buys:

  • The furnace main chamber from Haoxiang is a structural vessel built to drawing. Heating, pumping and growth performance come from the furnace design around it, so the order is about fit, material and leak tightness.
  • The ferrofluid vacuum sealing transmission devices from Hangzhou Hongsheng carry rotation into the vacuum chamber, for example for crystal or crucible rotation. You pick a configuration by matching shaft, flange and duty to a Hongsheng drawing.
  • The PAN sandwich rigid felt from Huaxin is carbon-fibre insulation board for the thermal field. Grade, size and thermal values are agreed per order.

Specifying each one

For a chamber, send the approved assembly drawing with every mating connection and ask Haoxiang to state material, tolerances and leak limit in writing. For a rotary seal, describe the real pressure range, speed and running hours, and, when replacing an existing unit, ask Hongsheng to mark which dimensions match your current assembly. For felt, name the furnace position, the PAN sandwich grade and the finished surface, then ask Huaxin to report measured properties for each lot. The guide on material qualification and lot certificates is written for module materials, but its approach to lot records and change notice works for hot-zone consumables too.

Graphite and felt parts often need high purity in the hot zone; if you treat them in-house, see graphite purification equipment. Keep a part list per furnace so spares stay matched to the right drawing revision.

Plan the equipment scope

For crystal growth components, begin your enquiry with chamber dimensions, mating flanges and the furnace drawing. Request a configuration-specific quotation and agree on material grade, weld inspection and the agreed leak-test method. Each listing shows the published values and the questions to confirm.

PAN sandwich rigid felt for thermal-field enquiries

Huaxin's PAN sandwich rigid felt is a carbon-fibre insulation board for furnace hot zones, pictured as rectangular boards. Huaxin names photovoltaic crystal pulling as an application. The entry lists no density, purity, conductivity or temperature figures, so quote from your drawing and ask for the grade sheet. You are buying a component material for your furnace design, made to your dimensions.

Ferrofluid vacuum sealing transmission devices

Hongsheng builds ferrofluid vacuum sealing transmission devices, the rotary feedthroughs that carry motion through a vacuum wall in PV and semiconductor equipment such as crystal-growth furnaces. The catalogue shows several configurations under one family name, without a shared model number or spec sheet. To buy one, send your shaft and flange drawings with pressure, speed and load, and Hongsheng proposes a model with its own drawing, operating limits and leak-test result. A complete furnace is quoted separately.

Selection guide

A furnace chamber is an integration component. Selection starts with the existing furnace assembly and engineering drawing, rather than a wafer-output target. A chamber quotation should identify the supplied boundary: bare machined body, finished pressure or vacuum assembly, internal fittings, or an assembly with cooling and sealing hardware.

Inputs to prepare before shortlisting

Drawing revision
Supply a controlled drawing with datum references, mating-flange details and tolerances. Identify which dimensions are critical to fit and which can follow supplier practice.
Material and environment
State the required material grade, internal process exposure and cleaning requirements. Ask which surfaces, welds and purchased fittings are included in the material record.
Assembly responsibilities
List seals, ports, cooling connections and the equipment onto which the chamber will be installed. Assign responsibility for design changes and fit checks.

Make quotations comparable

Compare the same scope of machining, welding, surface treatment and inspection. A price for a chamber body cannot be compared directly with a price for a fully tested furnace assembly. For a complete furnace, ask for the furnace documentation itself.

Plan the acceptance test

Agree a drawing-based inspection record and the required test procedure before manufacture. For any leak or pressure test, define the test medium, instruments, method and acceptance limit in the order. Record the serial number and approved drawing revision with the results.

Avoid this comparison mistake

Ask the furnace builder for crystal quality, cycle time and wafer capacity; a chamber supplier quotes the part only. Those outcomes also depend on the furnace design and process, outside the component listing.
